Penguin Bling

Hello.  Welcome.  Gosh.  December.  How did that happen!!  So, the time of the Jolly Red Man draws near and I am so not ready.  Well, why spoil a good thing....   Here's a not Christmas card with penguins.  And bling.  No really,  BLING!!!!   The new challenge at Rubber Dance is colours and/or glitter.  So I went glitter.  Big time.  It's a veritable blizz of bling.  Ready for this?? .........

Playful Penguin made a Snowcat.  How cute is that!!  OK, so this was a little experiment.  I got these glitter papers from Do Craft, including that dark one at the top that reminded me of a Northern Light's sky.  So I decided to gather some different glitter papers and build a scene.  Then I decided I would stamp and emboss my images on glitter paper as well, just to see if it was possible.

I wasn't sure if this would work, but it did!  I used Versamark ink and black embossing powder and then fussy cut them.  I wanted to add some colour, and I know alcohol inks colour glitter, so I decided to try Promarkers.  Wow, that worked really well.  I coloured by dotting the colour onto the glitter.  I am sure if you try and colour normally it would ruin the pens, but dotting the colour on worked perfectly and the pens survived.

Embossing on glitter card has it's challenges.  You may be able to see a certain green smudginess to my 'stary sky'.  Incidentally that's Zing opaque leaf embossing powder.  It rocks!!  The stars are one of the small stamps from Rubber Dance Textured Flowers.  As I was saying, the texture of the glitter can make a nice clean emboss a challenge, so keep a fine brush to hand and be willing to end up with a bit of glitter in your powder.   The top two papers are from Do-crafts.  They are backed with 'handmade paper'.  You know, the stuff that dissolves when faced with water or too much glue, and it also has a tendency to shed glitter.  In it's favour it cut easily and the colours are lush.  The silver one is one of the new plasticy types, harder to cut, no shed, and if you warm it too much when embossing it will melt.  How do I know this???? 😆 So quicky quicky with the heat gun to give a really beautiful embossed sentiment.  My final tip for the day is...... when sticking all those die cut layers together, make sure the glue is dry before you run it through the die cut machine to cut that pretty stitched edge.  Especially if you are cutting a pretty stitched edge!! cos that wet glue may very well ooze through all that lovely stitch detail and glue your project to the cutting plate, and you know some of those pretty papers just dissolve in the face of too much glue, causing inadvertent project death.  Luckily I had lots of glitter papers........

Thanks for dropping by.  All stamps are from Rubber Dance and if you need to get you a Playful Penguin or Snowcat you can get free worldwide shipping using the code GTFreeShip when you spend over €15. Now, your reward for reading this long post, other than my splendidly glittery project LOL...

Yep, that's right, Rubber Dance is giving a €50 prize for the December challenge.  You can use the colours above and/or glitter on your project, and stamping of course.  There is also a second prize of €25!!  So hop over and check out the challenge and the inspiration from the team and link up your stamped make.  Tell your friends as well.  Hugz
